Over the last half century strong growth and increasing international trade has brought untold jobs and prosperity to our citizens. We now face the greatest challenge to the world economy in modern times, a crisis affecting the lives of ordinary men, women, and children around the world. Obama: The most important task for all of us is to deliver a strong message of unity in the face of crisis. There’s some constituent parts to that. Number one, all the participating countries recognise that in the face a severe global contraction we have to each take steps to promote economic growth and trade; that means a robust approach to stimulus, fighting off protectionism. –more–
The interview is more about shoring up the banks – that makes him look like a spokesman for the banks. And stimulus must mean inflation, which must be better than having no money at all. Then again protectionism and living macrobiotically might be the better answer, that is: eating only what is grown locally.

Ron paul is again trying to pass a bill to audit Fort knox – given the refusal of the Gold price to rise as expected and the many Madoffs and AIGs, we could reasonably suspect that Fort Knox has been pilfered.
A spokesman for the US Treasury told The Times that US gold holdings are audited every year by the Department of Treasury’s Office of Inspector General. He confirmed that although independent auditors oversee the process they are not given access to the Fort Knox vault.
