Me thinks warm and fresh and not processed  might be better. But then no one asked me.

To millions of devout Hindus, it’s the real thing: a cola made from the urine of India’s sacred cows.

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, India’s leading Hindu cultural group, has developed Gau Jal or Cow Water, at its research centre in the Indian holy city of Haridwar on the River Ganges, and hopes it will be marketed as a ‘healthy’ alternative to Coke and Pepsi.

Hindus worship cows for their life-sustaining dairy products, but many also consume bovine urine and faeces in drinks and spice mixes for their “health-giving” properties.

In some Indian states, cow dung and urine are sold in regular dairy shops alongside milk and yogurt, and “ayurvedic” Indian health food companies make porridge, toothpaste and tonic drinks which claim to cure ailments ranging from liver complaints to diabetes and cancer. The urine is also believed to have disinfectant properties while the dung is used in many Indian village huts as a clean and antiseptic flooring. –more–

  1. BTW. our Western medical system is reputed to have originated from Ayurveda.
    Anyway one quote:

Urine therapy refers to use of one’s urine to maintain health, to prevent or cure sickness, to enhance beauty, or to promote meditation and spiritual enlightenment. Urine may be ingested, injected, or applied topically.

Urine therapy can be traced back as far as 5,000 years to early civilizations such as Aztecs, ancient Egyptians, ancient Chinese, and Native Americans. It is believed that the origin of this practice comes from certain religious rites among Hindus, where it is called amaroli in tantric religious traditions. Medically, urine is referred to as “plasma ultrafiltrate.” Advocates of urotherapy claim that this treatment is effective for dry skin, cancer, and numerous other diseases and disorders.

Research has revealed components of urine such as urea, hormones, and enzymes. Many of these components have been commercially isolated and marketed. For example, urokinase (an enzyme that promotes the break-up of blood clots) is used in drug form and sold as a thrombolytic for unblocking coronary arteries. Furthermore, luteinizing hormone and follicle stimulating hormone are the active components in Pergonal, a drug used to stimulate fertility in women. Urea is used in several creams to promote healthy skin.

Current researchers are investigating urotherapy in the treatment of AIDS and cancer.

  2. Can’t Google search now, am on a phone.
But there are many books and clinical trials on the use of Human urine. Also I have never heard of an ancient Indian remedy that does not work, nor is duplicated somehow in the West.
Cortizone a steroid for human use has been made from a Bulls semen.
