Is Israel preparing for isolation?

Israel has long neglected the UN and world opinion, now any facade has disappeared.

Jews the world over fought hard to get the Soviets to release the Jews. At first most of them wanted to go to the USA and Europe. But there was pressure exerted to make visas difficult, so they found themselves making aliyah to Israel.

Now they form the backbone of the far right party led by Lieberman.

The following exerpt is from the mass circulation left leaning Ynetnews and it seems to have conceded to reality. The reality of the rights popularity.


There is something blissful about the growing support for Avigdor Lieberman’s party, Yisrael Beiteinu. There is something appropriate about it. Something right. Something we deserve. Because we can no longer deny that Lieberman is the State of Israel’s most accurate depiction.

This is exactly what Israel looks like. These are its values, its voice, and its hopes.

A Lieberman state does not deserve to have a well-groomed, polite, coherent and false face. It needs to get the face it deserves. To look just the way it is. Just the way we are. Because evil, just like justice, must be seen, not only be done.


Ian Smith led Rhodesia with seeming disregard for what the world thought. This unilateral attitude survived more than ten years. A predicted right wing win will likely produce another Ian Smith approach.

And sanctions (if any) don’t and won’t do much !
