Sharm summit Tommorow

leave a comment »

This is Israel’s push to show an alternative to the Qatar summit, to which Egypt and Abbas were Not invited.

A unilateral ceasefire being attended by Israel’s allies.

Avnery pointed out – No point in agreeing with the US – when you need to agree with Hamas.

If the summit takes place – don’t be surprised if an Hamas rocket into Israel coincides.

The who’s who of attendees reads like the US congress, or Rice, Ross etc. And reveals the hidden hands that Ahmadinejad said should also be prosecuted (see post from yesterday)

The only people missing are Hamas. That terrible terrorist organisation that was freely elected, and starved for 2 years. And who has just received untold war crimes.

All a recipe for more war. Possibly with some secret backroom deals, like we’ll leave in 2 weeks if you let us play victors. Who knows? Spin and window dressing for the cameras and Israeli electorate. Instead of a genuine peace or understanding.

Sharm summit

A summit aimed at giving international backing to the ceasefire will be held in Egypt’s Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh on Sunday.

It is to be attended by the leaders of Germany, France, Spain, Britain, Italy, Turkey, Jordan and the Czech Republic — which holds the rotating EU presidency — as well as presidents Mahmoud Abbas of the Palestinian Authority, Hosni Mubarak of Egypt and Ban Ki-moon, the UN secretary-general.

It was not immediately clear whether Israel would send a representative, and Hamas has not been invited.
