Gaza ramifications: Hamas missile hits Israeli Air base near Tel Aviv

with 3 comments

Hamas has announced that its al-Qassam grad rockets have hit a major Israeli airbase near Tel Aviv, which is believed to house nuclear arms.

The ramifications are enormous. A psychological barrier has been broken. Israel’s enemies have seen a nerve centre in the centre of Israel attacked. Also it means the anti missile technology failed. And how do Hamas know? Through satellite verification presumably, either Iranian or Russian. And that the information was passed down, shows a chain of command / communication.

Irrespective of any future threat by Hamas, it has shown the Arabs that Israel is vulnerable, and this action somehow blurs the borders of the nation states. Now every one knows that a missile from Lebanon, Jordan or Gaza can have effect. This action will embolden Arabs everywhere. encouraging revolts in Egypt and Jordan.

The Israeli web site Debka for the first time has not made a press release today. Nor do I see any mention in Haaretz, but that should not discredit the information. It is standard procedure not to inform the enemy of its effectiveness.

Perhaps the attack also shows the lunacy of Israel’s attacks on civilians. As if, what for?

Unfortunately Israel’s response will be its signal as to how it responds to such attacks.

I somehow doubt it was a home made missile.

Tel Nof, which is one of Israel’s three main air bases, has been hit by Palestinian missiles, the al-Aqsa TV station, affiliated with Hamas, reported on Friday.

The air base is situated just 27 kilometers away from Tel Aviv on the outskirts of Rehovot, an Israeli city to the south of the capital.

Tel Nof is home to a number of Israeli fighter and helicopter squadrons as well as several special military units. Israel allegedly stores its nuclear weapons in and around the base.

The close distance between Tel Aviv and the base shows just how successful Hamas has been in launching its home-made rockets deeper into Israel than ever before.

The home-made Palestinian rockets spread widespread panic among Israelis.

Tel Aviv officials had initially said that they seek to stop rocket fire into Israel by attacking the Palestinian enclave.

The reported attack comes after Israel launched more deadly raids in Gaza on the 14 the day of its military operation in the coastal strip, raising the number of Palestinians killed to almost 800.

The Israeli raids came after the UN passed a binding resolution, calling for an immediate and durable cease-fire, the withdrawal of Israeli forces and the opening of all border crossings to the Gaza Strip.

  1. Fabricated BS from the bowels of the HAMAS intel 9if there could ever be such a thing.
first of all the Kassam rockets have a max of about 20 km range. the GRADS have a 40 Km range..
and they seem to have nothing with any father range in their dwindling inventory save a few human bombs 9if they could get out) that wouldn’t get within 100meters of the base fence before being turned to a fine red mist.
so your whole story is a good laugh and a lie

If Israelis knew what Israel is – it would then be a peaceful place – but there is so much classified – Some jews are more equal than others – those that know and those that don’t.

  3. Hi Morris,
Nobody round here knows of such a base, let alone a hit.
Funny that: Hamas has launched rockets today at one o fthe Gaza crossings – you know where the humanitarian lorries come through.
Why I don’t undeerstand is why Hamas never attacks thousands of troops on the Gaza / Israel border. All it does is send rockets into population centres. Ever considered that?
