Divining the News

Not Mainstream News

Blogging reached 1,000 hits today (my blog).

Posted by morris108 on May 17, 2008

This blog is seven weeks old, I had wanted to predict events, and really I didn’t succeed, although I had some close calls.

I might do a tally of close encounters in the future.

But I have often come up with a title or theme - only to see it appear again somewhere else within hours or a day or a few days.

So to some degree I might have my finger on the pulse. To write alternative news could be seen as an opportunistic endeavor - to touch upon the zeitgeist. But I would be much happier promoting a mainstream awakening. It is just not the reality at this time. My posts might contain insights but they are not investigative, so perhaps I need to team up with someone who has their ear to the ground.

Just why or how people visit is still a mystery to me, but with the posts accumulating, that in itself allows for higher amounts of hits.

I guess to have a successful blog, that one could live from, tens of thousands of hits per day would be required. It has been hard so far, and I have enjoyed the challenge…

Time will make me create a style. I am grateful for your visit. I have been encouraged to feature subjects that receive the most visitors, and would you believe the nemesis of life, that I should be featuring issues of Judaism and Zionism. Will it ever end?!

BTW I don’t know how many rss feeds (if any) are going on.

And thank you www.wordpress.com - to make a blog of your own, you just need an email address.

Reflections on blogging.

Posted by morris108 on April 18, 2008

I have been a Blogger for 3 weeks.
It has been great fun.
It is of course a chance to ‘mouth off’. Also I see the scope for the therapy value of reflecting.
There is the chance to see what other people are doing.
And the FAQs about making a blog popular suggest that going softly softly is unlikely to bring results. Expressing strong opinions and being controversial are more likely to bring readers, and of course it all takes time, but it is important to post frequently, according to the FAQs guidelines.
This platform at WordPress.com has some advantages, it feels a little like a social network. But more intellectual and less vulnerable to other people imposing themselves in your space. The technical support is very good and responsive. And like in any community, there are some restrictions.
There are a lot of ‘tricks of the trade’ to learn. If only; what works best on one’s computer. I do most of my writing (and uploading) with my thumbs on an old Palm Treo smartphone.
Yesterday I misread a news item, then I made a whole commentary and posted it. Fortunately I caught the mistake in under an hour and deleted it. But most of the lessons learned are to do with the technical presenting.
So I hope to continue being opinionated and trying to stir things up.

Middle East Political Blogs on WordPress

Posted by morris108 on April 6, 2008

Looking around WordPress, which is where I am blogging, I found four other Blogs, concentrating on the Middle East, and providing an alternative to the mainstream press. I am sure there are many many more here. You can start your own blog for free by providing an email address!

http://desertpeace.wordpress.com/ 242,000 since January 2008,

Name: Desert Peace

Location: Jerusalem, Israel

From my very first post….

I am originally from the United States. I have been living in Jerusalem, Israel for 23 years and have dedicated all of those years to try and create an atmosphere that will lead to a just and permanent peace in this area. Israelis and Palestinians have more in common that the outsider might see… I will attempt on this blog to show those similarities and show why I am so confident that one day we will live in peace together.
I know it can be done!

About…

Active Peace/Civil Rights Worker.. Aiming to establish a just and lasting peace between Israel and Palestine, while at the same time continue the struggle against racism and for peace throughout the world. Email me at.. manopeace@gmail.com

DesertPeace originally started out at Blogspot in October 2005. Because of continual technical difficulties it was moved to WordPress in January of 2008…. all archives were moved as well.

The Fanonite was set up during Israel’s invasion of Lebanon in summer 2006 when the BBC threw all caution to the wind and started serving as Israel’s official propaganda organ. BBC’s pattern of skewed coverage on the Middle East is consistent and has been amply documented by the Glasgow University Meida Group and Spinwatch, two research units with which I have had an association. Nevertheless, it came as a surprise that after the GUMG study, Bad News From Israel, and BBC’s own independent review — which found its coverage of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict “incomplete” and “misleading” — it should put its credibility on the line to serve as a surrogate of the Israeli ministry of information.          240,173 hits            since April 2006

http://persia1.wordpress.com/

I am from Iran. Persia was the international name used for Iran until, I guess, last century when they wrongly changed it.

I have spent more than a decade of my life in US and have enjoyed being there. I found American people and their culture one of the most wonderful in the world. However, I feel that as in most of other countries, including ours, US people are being played by their government under the name of democracy, freedom, fighting terrorism , etc. Fortunately, many Americans know this very well.

Today, US government is mainly in the hands of Jewish lobby. A presidential candidate must prove his/her loyalty to them and to Israel to get allowed to run for presidency! They control most media around the world and inside the US and when necessary use their propaganda machines to prepare massacres around the world. We saw it in Iraq, in Palestine inside the occupied territories, . . .
