“The Invention of the Jewish People”, has been a best selling book in Israel, it is written by an Israeli professor, and chronicles how most of the people today who regard themselves as Jews are actually descendents of people who converted (often en masse via their rulers) to Judaism.

Biography:

An expert on European history at Tel Aviv University, Sand drew on extensive historical and archaeological research to support not only this claim but several more — all equally controversial. Source

  2. the kingdoms of David and Solomon are legends;
  3. there never was an exile as the Romans did not exile people and all evidence shows that the Jews stayed on their lands[…]
  4. the idea of exile may have come from early Christians, […]
  5. the modern Zionist idea of Jews being obligated to return from exile to the Promised Land was entirely alien to Judaism,[…]
  6. most of today’s Jews have no historical connection to Israel;
  • It is not taught in Israeli schools but most of the early Zionist leaders, including David Ben Gurion [Israel’s first prime minister], believed that the Palestinians were the descendants of the area’s original Jews.
