Israelis have divided their history into different waves of immigration. After the second world war is an obvious wave.
What type of Jew goes there now? A religious Jew will go, to be in the holy land. A non religious Jew who is in trouble might go. The state offers protection to Jews from criminal prosecution abroad. And if the troubles are financial then there are opportunities in Israel, albeit a tough place. Or for those in need of an idealogy then this is another motivation, to settle the holy land, though this could be similar to religious. Jews might go for compassionate reasons, to be with family.
What type of Jew will Not go to israel. A secular Jew would find little motivation to go there. A Jew who is happy to live in an assimilated culture. A Jew who empathises with the Palestinians. A Jew who is a pacifist. A Jew who is not in trouble.
In fact there has been a lot of publicity about the 60,000 Iranian Jews who refuse to go to Israel even when offered financial incentives.
So the Israeli that is versed in immigration will only be accustomed to immigrant Jews who are on the right, who see greater Israel as a God gifted country for the Jews.
Probably the majority of the Jews in the world do not go there, and would not want to. Lest you feel offended, realize this is a very pro Jewish article. Israel has hijacked the Jewish name. To be a Jew now means running wars, threatening holocausts, and imprisoning large amounts of people, either in prisons or in their villages.
If Israel is for the Jews, why do most Jews not go there? Maybe in the Israeli elections all Jews all over the world should be allowed to vote. Seen as Israel has appointed itself as spokesperson and guardian for the Jews.
Finally, If Israel could attract a different type of Jew it would be a different type of place.

The most vocal and articulate peace activist in Israel, I think, is Uri Avneri, He is Jewish and has been a member of Parliament and leads one group called Gush Shalom.
To subscribe to his newsletters, do the following: send mail to:
intl-request@mailman.gush-shalom.org and write the word subscribe in the subject line.
Here is an excerpt from his latest article ‘Manifest Destiny’, (although just as i am writing I received a new letter which is an open letter to Jimmy Carter on the eve of his visiting the head of Hamas in Damascus).
…………..
An excerpt from later in the article:

If you are interested in the middle east, or if you have lived in Israel, then one becomes aware of culture, religion and ancestry.
To be fair it is in all of us.
The Chinese I have met are proud of their country’s success.
The Iranian news Agency, Presstv quotes the success of Iranians, who don’t even live in Iran.
And the Indian’s are proud of their rise as well.
In post imperial Britain there seems to be more self deprecation.
And in Israel, everything is referenced to Judaism.
There is very little room for John Lennon types seeking a world without borders.
Yet the ancient Indian scriptures do make it clear that all of humanity is one family.
We can all draw on our romantic notions of our ancestry and culture, but it is very dangerous, and to try and insure that everyone else is drawn to it is equally dangerous. Read the rest of this entry »

More Anti War Quotes www.anti-war.comAmerica will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter, and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves. ~Abraham Lincoln History teaches us that men and nations behave wisely once they have exhausted all other alternatives. ~Abba Eban The welfare of the people in particular has always been the alibi of tyrants. About the quote: Mrs. Bush spoke these words on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” March 18, 2003. Killing a man in defense of an idea is not defending an idea; it is killing a man. The basic problems facing the world today are not susceptible to a military solution.
Violence, even well intentioned, always rebounds upon oneself. Everybody’s worried about stopping terrorism. Well, there’s a really easy way: stop participating in it.
Terror is a tactic. We can not wage “war” against a tactic.
There is no instance of a country having benefited from prolonged warfare.
He that is the author of a war lets loose the whole contagion of hell and opens a vein that bleeds a nation to death.
The greatest crime since World War II has been US foreign policy. About the quote: William Ramsey Clark was US Attorney General under Lyndon B. Johnson |

If you’re on the right, you join the war effort.
If you’re on the left, you stay away from it.
So the rightists are shooting, facilitating and encouraging others to fight.
The intellectuals on the right are putting forward lucrative ideas to persuade the profit available.
And we end up with a war machine.
All the forlorn are also thrown into it.
Till we’ve made enough enemies ….
And the moral leftists stay well clear of the war effort.
Well that isn’t enough

Ruined everything for everyone, every action is now a fiasco. The latest is called Malaki’s assault on Sadr.
Rense and What Really Happened are getting 4 million hits a day (See graph). Uri Avneri is syndicated onto many other web sites. Rootless Cosmopolitans, Tikkun are others. (What Really Happened: Mike Rivero champions his long time Jewish wife). All in all this suggests non Jewish dissident sites are getting 50 times that.
It will be interesting to see the bloodletting (figuratively speaking), the blame game will have to start. Last week kissinger was speaking of the unity of the US and Israel, well in deciphering politalspeak, that must mean it’s under threat.
To bring a nation into disrepute is a serious crime. Where is the court? There are people who have taken us to the abyss of morality. And would like to do more. The Hague is for war criminals. Where’s the Jewish court? For enslaving a nation of Jews into a pursuit of hegemony. For denying a nation of individuals any hope of reaching their individual destinies. For pursuing policies that have no regard for individual privacy. For riding roughshod over each and everyone’s family. The bible might be the greatest book ever written. But it’s fan club is merely following the rules in a dogmatic way,

We taught the Palestinians how to fight back.
We taught the Shiite farmers in Lebanon how to fight.
We taught the Iranians the power of the missile.
We showed the world what atomic weapons can do.
We taught the Vietnamese, the Koreans and the Chinese.
Now we are teaching the Iraqis.
Can we get a grip?
