Sometimes it’s just really hard to kill a bug.

According to the Russian news agency RIA Novosti, a mosquito managed to live 18 months clinging to the outside of the International Space Station, without any food, being bombarded by radiation and enduring fluctuating temperatures ranging from minus 230 degrees to 140 degrees Fahrenheit.

“We brought him back to Earth. He is alive, and his feet are moving,” Anatoly Grigoryev of the Russian Academy of Sciences told RIA Novosti.

The buzzing bug was part of a larger experiment in which bacteria, barley seeds, small crustaceans and larval insects were placed in a container strapped to the exterior of the space station, which orbits in zero gravity about 200 miles above the surface of the Earth.

From the RIA Novosti report, it wasn’t clear if the insect which may in fact be a non-biting midge rather than a mosquito was placed in the container in the larval or the adult stage.

A European Space Agency experiment last fall found that primitive animals called tardigrades, also known as water bears, survived an even harsher exposure to space, including full vacuum and direct solar ultraviolet blasts. Moreover, several of the surviving tardigrades were able to normally reproduce.

The term fascism, as commonly used today, has lost much of its original meaning. Typically, the word fascist brings forth images of goose-stepping, jack-booted, anti-Semitics and horrific crimes against humanity. Forgotten is that fascism is first and foremost a type of political economy. Mussolinis Italy was fascist, but there was no genocide and the landscape was not dotted with crematoria. Italian fascism was called corporativism, the bringing together of government, business and labor into cartels under the direction of the state. German production, under the racially oriented Nazi fascists, was also organized into cartels. Economic fascism, accordingly, has been defined as a political economy where private property and enterprise are tolerated but remain under strict regulation and control for the common good as defined by the state.

As with any planned economy, state control of property and the terms of market exchange can be accomplished only by controlling people, hence a fascist authoritarianism that grows incrementally as the state negates voluntary exchange and voluntary association and weakens the authority of the church and family, i.e., a state that gradually embraces and then smothers civil society.

Because fascism does not allow unregulated domestic markets, it must restrict and regulate trade between the nation and foreign states. As with both Germany and Italy , this is often accomplished through a militaristic empire building of client states in an effort to ensure a flow of needed resources, [...]

Fascist authoritarianism is made more palatable by creating through propaganda in the media, schools, and public events a sense of nationalism embodied in a charismatic leader, an increased patriotism emphasizing a sacred homeland, and a collective identity that scorns individualism.

Dennis Ross advocates a tough approach toward Iran seeking to convince Europe to increase economic pressure on the Tehran government

The White House names controversial Middle East negotiator Dennis Ross as its special foreign policy adviser for Persian Gulf affairs.

“This is a region in which America is fighting two wars and facing challenges of ongoing conflict, terror, proliferation, access to energy, economic development and strengthening democracy and the rule of law,” State Department spokesman Robert Wood said in a statement.

Ross will provide Mrs. Clinton with “strategic advice and perspective on the region, offer assessments and also act to ensure effective policy integration throughout the region,” Wood added.

Ross, who advised President Barack Obama during his campaign, is best known for his lengthy negotiations to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

In light of its supposed “policy U-turn” toward Iran, the Obama administration has managed to raise eyebrows by giving the post to Ross as he seeks a tough anti-Iran approach.

In the heat of the presidential race, Ross co-chaired a group called United Against Nuclear Iran — an organization working to “stop Iran from getting nuclear weapons”.

Ross, as a member of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, also put his signature on a September report saying that “the Europeans make war more likely if they do not strengthen sanctions against Iran and effectively end all commercial relations.”

Globalisation did bring joy to many, just think of all the gadgets, foods and clothes. And for the capitalists it was also a bonanza.

But how can it last another day?

Speaking for the UK and the US. We got no jobs and all we can make are weapons.

Globalisation was bad for the environment, who cared what happened in some faraway country reduced to mono cultivation for export?

And in the end our coveted service industries were outsourced.

If fiat money was a jewish notion then realize every other country adopted it. Except not every country went for a private Fed.

Printing money and making inflation is all that’s left. The ironical last stages of salvaging fiat money.

The old anarchist chime that the police are here to protect property and wealth from the needy will look glaringly true.

Soon the policing will be required to enforce fiat money, that of course will fail. The current crash is widely labeled as ‘systemic’.

For a replacement think: Feudalism, Communism, Protectionism, Xenophobia, Barter, gold standard. Expect the myriad of economic rules and requirements to disintegrate.

Maybe the talented will once again be able to rise.

‘We Are Such an Angry People’

In a SPIEGEL interview, former Knesset president Avraham Burg discusses the right-wing surge in elections, the “monopoly of the Holocaust” on Israelis’ everyday lives and opportunities missed by the Palestinians and Israel.

Avraham Burg on the election of the right-wing parties and Likud Party leader Benjamin Netanyahu’s imminent return as prime minister: “The Israeli society has been kidnapped by the settler movement.”

SPIEGEL: Mr. Burg, a majority of Israelis voted for right-wing parties, and now Benjamin Netanyahu is prime-minister designate. As someone who supports the Israeli left, are you feeling a bit lonely these days?

Burg: I feel I am losing my political, ideological and spiritual home. My political home today, the Meretz party, shrank to only three seats in the Knesset. As an Israeli I feel lost because so many of my fellow countrymen are in love with war — as the solution for everything. But the most existential loss is spiritual: For me, being a Jew is being a universalist, a humanist. I can’t understand any Jew who votes right-wing. I can’t understand how a Jew can speak a language of xenophobia. And yet so many of them just did.

SPIEGEL: You’re referring primarily to the ultranationalist Avigdor Lieberman, whose Israel Beytenu Party became the third-strongest in Israel’s parliament.

Burg: If you had told me 20 years ago that a day would come when this racist ideology would be represented with 15 seats in the Knesset, I would have said that was impossible. Now it’s as if the crossing of this red line were natural. Lieberman doesn’t talk about the West Bank and the borders of 1967. He brings us back to 1948, when tens of thousands of Palestinians were expelled from their homes….

Am beginning to think the Jewish empire will collapse from the WASPs. All that folly of battling the Muslims. When the banks collapse in weeks or months and inflation sets in. The tirade against the jews which is already approaching a storm will crystallize.

Why are we being led to hate a people unnecessarily. The yesmen and yeswomen, the assimilated and the WASPs who faithfully show allegiance will vaporise, disappear. Which is a shame for all the thinking jews, the ones who have been sidelined.

While the loyal myopic jews who have been force fed to hate will be sought to pull all sorts of sordid falsities. What a mess. Who is leading us over the abyss? Dare no one ask?

With an obsession on race. And any obsession is an Achilles heel. The first thought of the ruling class of the obedient jew is: what race is somebody?

We need a new paradigm, new boundaries and points of relativity. But the old guard isn’t going to allow that. Yet it is coming. Cause the power base is shrinking. As is the economy.

Smut alone won’t keep us afloat. Is everyone going to be punished? Lose their homes, jobs and families?

The storm against the Jewish rule is gathering, undercurrents, resentments and whirlwinds. Still the counting, revenge and laws are dished out.

Worship the mother, the family and the state, always know the racial divide, no mixing no free trusting.

My Mother believed in reincarnation, and also many other people I admire have too, like Osho and various Indian gurus. Whether it is ego based or simply a recycling of souls or of the vapour within us I do not know.

Assuming its validity I think at some time I was a Muhammadan, that is, a follower of Muhammad. Something about Islamic culture fascinates me. Maybe just because it is forbidden for a Jew. Mamnooa in Arabic means forbidden.

The Jews go Ape whenever I appear at an Islamic place, normally it is just an eating place. Hummus etc is a joy to eat. The Jews are well connected no doubt through money, and I am immediately seen next to criminal and undesirable elements.

I musn’t frequent any place, that would risk being spiked, I learned the hard way. So we plebs must stay racially segregated while the big nobs interact. Bush and Bin laden is a good example.

Few people realize how threatening the Arab and Islamic culture is to the Jews. It is full scale warfare, Good cop Bad cop routine, one corrupting the other saying take of the Kaffiyeh etc.

Without our lords and masters there would be peace immediately. But then I guess everyone knows that.

Our masters want fear and corruption and everything convoluted, and then to tax our every effort, which kills our souls.
