Debka and PressTV on US failed policy to Iran

leave a comment »

Strange for the combatative Debka to relay Iran’s voice. Seems like an admission of defeat for past policies.

Also interesting is Iran’s idea to offer an alternative system for the world. Just when everyone is questioning Capitalism.

Seems like the Obama period really could be different. If we no longer have to battle Muslims.

Tehran: Obama’s offer of talks shows US “policy of domination” failed

January 31, 2009, 2:41 PM (GMT+02:00)

Iran’s government spokesman is quoted as saying Saturday, Jan. 31 that capitalist thought and the system of domination have failed. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told a ceremony marking the 30th anniversary of Khomeini’s overthrow of the shah that Iran’s Islamic revolution was not limited to its borders. His response to the US president Barack Obama’s overtures was a demand that America apologize for 60 years of “crimes against Iran” and its new president carry out a “deep and fundamental change.”

Bolton: Iran defeated US

Former US envoy to the UN John Bolton says Washington has lost its battle with Iran.

Former US envoy to the UN John Bolton says Washington has suffered a humiliating defeat in its drive against Iran’s nuclear activities.

In a Friday interview with BBC Persian, Bolton said Washington’s efforts to curb Tehran’s nuclear achievements have come to naught as Tehran has successfully managed to defend its national interests.

In my view, we lost the fight. Tehran has emerged the ultimate winner in maintaining its nuclear program, he added.

Bolton claimed that if Washington had settled on a military option against Iran’s nuclear infrastructure beforehand, “the threat of Iranian nuclear weapons would not have existed in the world today”.

How many Israelis are sick of it all?

leave a comment »

Not a majority, no where near, maybe 5%. That is a heck of a lot of people. Maybe 350,000. Let’s say 10% of them can no longer stomach doing anything for the state. That is 35,000.

35,000 persecuted people. They said to themselves they were not born to be a servant to imperialism. They are no doubt denied privileges, and probably some rights. Bureaucracy moves slowly and not in their favour.

The letter of the law is applied. And as much as those who serve the state with zest get to cut all corners, so the reverse is true for the resistors. They’ve had Bibi, Sharon and now look forward to another Likud win. The Imperial Israel.

Just as the settlers arrive to all manner of benefits and the local Palestinians find their land and water shrinking, so there is also a divide between the Imperialists and the individualists.

Dozens believed dead in reprisal attacks as Hamas retakes control

• Suspected collaborators shot during and after war
• Escaped criminals killed by relatives of their victims

Evidence is emerging of a wave of reprisal attacks and killings inside Gaza that have left dozens dead and more wounded in the wake of Israel’s war.

Among the dead are Palestinians suspected of collaborating with the Israeli military. Others include criminals who were among the 600 prisoners to escape from Gaza City’s main jail when it was bombed as the war began. Their attackers are thought to be their victims’ relatives.

During and after the war, there have also been attacks on security officials from Fatah, the bitter rival of Hamas, the Islamist movement in control of the Gaza Strip. One witness told the Guardian how her brother, a Fatah military intelligence officer, was shot three times in the legs in an apparent punishment attack by gunmen from Hamas’s armed wing.

The Israeli newspaper Ha’aretz reported yesterday that several Palestinian agents working in Gaza for the Israeli security services during the war had been killed, and cited one source as saying that agents were “intercepted” by Hamas because their intelligence had been used “carelessly” by the military. –more–

Peres the old man of Israel

leave a comment »

Poor old Peres,

Reduced to the likes of everyone else. Doing what they are told.

President Shimon Peres insists Israel is a “democracy” fighting a peresnoble war against “terroristic” Palestinians. –more–

Once he was famous for being with Rabin in shaping an equal one state solution. He is also known for being a crafty politician.

When Rabin was assassinated, he could have called immediate elections and won a landslide victory due to public sympathy. But he said no he would be honourable and wait six months for grieving, then Bibi rose to power.

No one powerful in Israel is saying anything against the Gaza invasion, that it was unnecessary or that it has been waged in a self defeating manner. And the President in Israel does not really have that much power, he could speak out easier than anyone else. But instead he is left to spend whatever goodwill he had by defending Israel’s actions.

Perhaps is loyalty stays with Israel’s labor party and their upcoming elections, where they hope to keep the Defense ministry portfolio.

It is an inglorious position to be in.
