Anti Russian Cheney with Peres: “Russian arms-dealing reaching Hizbullah.” Israeli press

The liberal Jews (& not only the Jews) in the US often say the Israeli press is freer than the US MSM (mainstream media).

Anyway it is fair to say Israelis and Jews in general can probably smell when an article is propaganda or serious analysis.

If so, then why bother with the propaganda? Is it for export? Or does it still have an impact on the populations psyche?

In 73, the Druse and Syrians on the Golan expected that Israelis had horns coming out of their foreheads, and they lost the war.

Israel has had bad results in Georgia and in Lebanon. Were the Israelis starved of the truth as well?

The Western media is notorious for dumbing down its population. And the West appears to be in losing wars.

Cheney: Russian arms reaching Hizbullah

In 2006 it was Russian anti tank missiles that destroyed the Israeli land offensive. So what’s new? Now they are getting even more sophisticated weapons.

Because Israelis trained Georgians on how to kill Russians. Right or wrong? It is obvious to everyone. Cause and effect.

Is there any public discussion on this? Or are only specialists allowed to discuss it?

Does that mean its okay with Syria and Iran, but not with Hizbollah? Hizbollah is labeled as a terrorist organisation by Israel and its backers. Just like the PLO once was. And also the Irgun etc.

They are no more terrorists than any other armed group or nation. In fact they are reputable for being believable.

“Russian arms-dealing has endangered the prospects for peace and freedom in the region (the Middle East),” US Vice President Dick Cheney said on Saturday.

Russian arms-dealing sounds illegitimate. Like there is a quick buck involved. When in fact Russia is probably trying to find a language Israel understands.

And this is endangering the peace. So if Israel does not have tremendous overkill (meaning superiority) in weapon strength, then the peace is threatened.

Speaking at global conference of political and business leaders in Cernobbio, Italy, Cheney lambasted Moscow’s policies using pointedly harsh rhetoric.

“Russia has sold advanced weapons to the regimes in Syria and Iran. Some of the Russian weapons sold to Damascus have been channeled to terrorist fighters in Lebanon and Iraq,” said Cheney.

Why is it unrealistic that others also have advanced weapons. There is not one scrap of (public) evidence to say Iran is developing Nuclear weapons. Also is Israel the only one allowed to? In the absence of performing evil, there shouldn’t be so much fear.

The terrorist fighters in Lebanon were a sleepy load of peasants until Israel invaded, with tremendous overkill and brutality, and breaking the Geneva conventions. That is the only reason Hizbollah exists. Israel created it.

Syria lost the Golan heights to Israel. Israel started that war. It invaded Syria and took the land. Patriotic Israelis may justify this, but that does not mean Syria should not be angry.

Russia has its own Intelligence the FSB, it is fully aware of Israel’s involvement with its adversaries: Georgia, Ukraine, Poland and the Baltic states.

Yes Yedioth Achronot, why not say these things to your readers. On the eighth of August the Israeli web site Debka said Israel may expect punishment from Russia (because of Georgia).

The vice president later met in private with Israeli President Shimon Peres on the sidelines of the conference. Cheney added that Moscow was selling the arms to Iran and Syria knowing full-well it is intended for Hizbullah and the terror organizations in Iraq, Peres’ aides said.

The terrorist organizations in Iraq have the same story as Hizbullah and Hamas and indeed the Iranians and the Syrians. They all militarised in response to being occupied.

Over a million Iraqis have been killed, about a fifth of the population has been made into refugees. The country is covered in Deleted Uranium, birth defects are up. Enough?

Even if there is an enemy, respect them! Labeling them as terrorists is not doing the Israelis any good at all. Maybe they are freedom fighters? Or Insurgents? Or maybe they don’t like foreigners occupying them?

Peres also briefed Cheney on recent developments in the negotiations with the Palestinian Authority. The two also discussed the Iranian nuclear threat, Hamas and the situation in Georgia. Cheney, who arrived at the conference fresh from a tour of Georgia, Azerbaijan and the Ukraine, told Peres that Washington was closely monitoring the crisis in the Caucasus and that Russian troops are still deployed in various regions in Georgia.

The Russians have been next to Georgia for thousands of years. The US is thousands of miles away, and Israel is sixty years old. Is it any of the VP’s or Peres’ business?

And is it any wonder Russian arms are now at Israels borders. Isn’t it the same thing?

Peres warned Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad would continue to terrorize the region in the name of religious extremism. He stressed it was vital for the United States and Europe to create an alternative fuel source to oil, which he called “the leading funder of global terrorism and extremist leaders such as (Venezuelan President Hugo) Chavez and Ahmadinejad.” Cheney said the world must stand as one against Iran’s nuclear program.

What is wrong with Iran’s nuclear program? It is legal. It is monitored and scrutinized. It was started by the Americans. There are some elder people (no names mentioned) who remember when Iran’s oil was theirs, and they are still bitter about it.

Iran’s religious extremism? The US and Israel would prefer secular states in the Middle East. Apart from Israel which is governed by Jewish law. And Saudia can be conveniently forgotten. The Ayatollah Khomeni was a Sufi, a mystical strand of Islam. And Saddam’s Iraq was relatively secular. Are there only lies for policy?

And Venezuela is just trying to send the profits of its resources back to its people. Must Israel only support despots?

And as for an alternative source of oil. The US is now in debt to 9 trillion dollars from fighting wars which have no definable basis. And the Pentagon is the biggest user of oil in the world. And the US spends 5$ ‘protecting’ each 1$ of oil it imports from the Persian Gulf.

It would be cheaper to just buy the oil from countries that owned their oil, instead corrupting and militarizing the trade for multinationals. But Israel is hellbent on total dominance.

Cheney slams Russian ‘aggression’
“This chain of aggressive moves and diplomatic reversals has only intensified the concern that many have about Russia’s larger objectives,” Cheney told the conference in prepared remarks.

There was no Russian aggression. There was a Russian reaction, and a reaction to war crimes. Israel would have reacted far worse and with less restraint.

And the EU is now agreeing to a probe of how hostilities broke out. Which does not bode well for the West (or Israel). Although Israel has so much power; it is rarely mentioned by name, even by Russia. And anyway Israel has always fallen back on the ‘they are anti semites’ argument.

“For brutality against a neighbor is simply the latest in a succession of troublesome and unhelpful actions by the Russian government.”

Unhelpful to the Israeli US Neocon empire dream.

The US had made promises not to co-opt the ex soviet satellites into NATO, but it had a short memory.

Russia has tried to “intimidate by threats and severe economic pressure” Ukraine, which along with Georgia, is seeking to join NATO, he said.

The Ukraine and Georgia were integral states of the Soviet Union. When Russia was on its knees after the collapse of the Soviet Union, Western NGO’s (Non Governmental Organizations) instigated with money the Rose and Orange revolutions.

“At times it appears Russian policy is based upon the desire to impose its will on countries it once dominated, instead of any balanced assessment of security interests,” Cheney said.

Who is he to tell Russia about its security interests? Or is this all propaganda for Israeli and right wing populations? Aren’t there enough wars and blood on the hands of the US? It is Israel and the US and the West that is arming the countries on Russia’s borders.

He noted that a senior Russian military official threatened Poland with attack over its involvement in the missile defense system. “That is no way for a responsible power to conduct itself,” Cheney said.

‘a responsible power to conduct itself’??? What is Israel involved in here? The Jews were supposed to be a leading light onto the nations. And they were complicit in engineering a war crime against Russians (South Ossetia). And that’s without mentioning what is happening in Iraq, Afghanistan, the West Bank and Gaza.

“And it reflects the discredited notion that any country can claim an exclusive zone of authority, to be held together by muscle and threats,” he said.

What are nearly 200,000 US troops doing in Iraq and Afghanistan?

“That is the old thinking,” Cheney said. “The old ways are gone, and the Cold War is over.”

If the cold war is over, stop pounding away at Iran, Hizbullah, North Korea and Hamas etc.

Russia’s leaders should consider whether “bullying others will turn out well for their country’s future” and whether Moscow wants to “operate in the modern world as an outsider,” he said.

This is pure hubris. He was just snubbed in Azerbaijan. (Which means losing Zillions of $ in oil earnings) Russia can Easily pull the rug out from under NATO in Afghanistan. The Ukraine is in no way fully supportive of the US. And maybe worst of all, Europe nd Turkey, the US’ NATO partners are in no mood for confrontation with Russia.

On this occasion morality and the publics mood are also playing a role. The US’ (with Israeli support) war on terror has alienated almost everyone.

“Russia’s leaders cannot have things both ways,” Cheney said. “They cannot presume to gather up all the benefits of commerce, consultation, and global prestige, while engaging in brute force, threats, or other forms of intimidation against sovereign countries.”

The US (& Israel) doesn’t know how to react when a country stands up: Iran, Hizbullah, China, Venezuela, Cuba etc.

This post is not about arguing that Russia is an Angel. It is saying if we get real, and that means the media gets real, then maybe there will be less wars, and that might mean losing less wars.

If alternatively, the media goes along with the propaganda, and misleads its readers, then the media, the countries and the populations are likely to suffer.
